PIMP YOUR KAYAK
This page is dedicated to kayak & equipment customization! Over the years we have come up with some great ideas to better outfit yourself for paddling. So take a look, and if you copy our ideas we ask that you email us and say: "I have been officially Pimped!" at info@gaguides.net. Some ideas below have been adapted from various sources, and where possible the original sources are noted. All other modifications are GA Guides originals. *Warning* if you alter your kayak particulary inside your cockpit, make sure you do not hinder your ability to exit your kayak. Test under safe conditions before fully relying on any changes you make.

Rescue Slings:

Adapted from Body Boat & Blades www.bodyboatblade.com design - an adjustable rescue sling with quick release buckle. A sling is ideal for a paddler who is unable to use upper body strength to get into their cockpit (possibly suffering from hypothermia). Clip it onto your (the rescurer) deck line and drape it over the rescuees boat, for an instant step. Requires some practice for solo use.

Kayak Bungee Deck Beads :

Having trouble re-stowing your paddle under your deck bungees? Go to your local bead store or www.shipwreckbeads.com and buy some plastic/bone/wood beads!or carve your own! Greenland paddlers have been using bone to easily stow paddles & hunting items on their kayak decks since the kayak was invented- no need to re invent the wheel!

I discovered a plastic storage bin fits really snug against my bulk head to brace my feet against if foot pedals are removed! A simple piece of foam padding for my feet and I have made use of the void in front of my feet and between the bulkhead! Although its not watertight it stays suprising dry even during capsize & recovery drills. You'll have to be under six feet tall to copy this idea but its great for expeditions when every inch of storage is utilized. Plastic bin can be also used at your campsite for many uses- table, cutting board, trash bin! etc
